Biography
Vaclav Vetvicka is the Director of Research and professor at the University of Louisville at Louisville, KY. He is recognized in the field of aspartic proteinases in cancer particularly for his work on procathepsin D. His second research interest is the field of natural immunomodulators, particularly beta glucan. He received his first degree in immunology from the Charles University in Prague and Ph.D. from the Institute of Microbiology, Czech Academy of Sciences. He then received a postdoctoral position in Oklahoma Medical Foundation in the laboratories of Dr. Paul Kincade. Since 1991, he works at the University of Louisville. He is an author of over 200 research papers, 8 books and 8 international patents.
