Biography

Dr. Hee-Young Kim is a renowned otolaryngologist based in Seoul, South Korea, who specializes in Eustachian tube dysfunction (ETD). Currently, Dr. Hee-Young Kim is the Editor in Chief of the Journal of Otolaryngology-ENT Research. Dr. Kim is actively involved in pioneering research to establish middle ear pressure as a viable biomarker for ETD and to investigate patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) for this ailment. Dr. Kim has made major contributions to the discipline through his academic and scientific work. In 2023, he graduated from Teaching Assistant 1 to Teaching Assistant 2 on the PPCR team at Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health, and is now a Teaching Fellow. Dr. Kim has completed the "Teaching, Learning, and Innovation Program" with Associação Instituto Scala and Fundação Lemann, and graduated from the "Meta-analysis Academy." He continues to hone his meta-analysis skills through ongoing investigations at "MetaHub." Dr. Kim is writing a chapter on Eustachian Tube Dysfunction for the upcoming book "Vertigo: Clinical and Scientific Advances," which seeks to bridge the gap between complex research and practical healthcare applications. His objective is to publish these findings under the famous Harvard University affiliation, making substantial contributions to the discipline. Outside of his work obligations, Dr. Kim finds balance and creativity in playing the violin and viewing science fiction films. He is motivated by the desire to promote academic science and educate healthcare decisions, benefiting healthcare professionals, policymakers, and patients alike. This passion is reflected in his teaching, research, and ongoing education.
