Abstract
This article examine the art and technique of dressing, and emphasizes two sets of conflicts: the industry and the consumer; automatism and consumerism. It presents the philosophical ideas of Jacques from the 1950’s to talk about technique and automatism, and other authors to discuss textile consumption and sustainability. Innovations and the intensification of the presence of machines, intelligent systems and media have contributed to the increase in the supply of clothes and fabrics, the acceleration of fashion, and the production of textile waste, which point to benefits and harms that society needs to learn to deal with. The Planet cries out, and we need to respond!
