Biography

Alexandre Azenha Alves de Rezende is a professor and researcher in the Biological Sciences program at the Institute of Exact and Natural Sciences of Pontal (ICENP) at the Federal University of Uberlândia (UFU) in Brazil. He holds advanced degrees, including a Master's and Ph.D. in Genetics and Biochemistry, with a specialization in Genetics, particularly Mutagenesis. His expertise extends to Genetic Engineering with applications in Health and Environmental studies. Dr. Rezende has a solid academic foundation, having graduated in Biological Sciences. His research experience encompasses health, bioinformatics, and genetics, with a primary focus on mutagenesis and anti-mutagenesis. He employs advanced methodologies such as SMART (Somatic Mutation and Recombination Test) for detecting mutations and somatic recombination in Drosophila melanogaster wing cells. Additionally, he utilizes the ETT (Epithelial Tumor Test) to identify epithelial tumor clones in D. melanogaster, enabling the evaluation of complex mixtures from environmental sources, synthetic compounds, pharmaceuticals, drugs, and natural substances. To date, Dr. Rezende has published 50 scientific papers in various peer-reviewed journals, reflecting his significant contributions to the field of genetics and biochemistry.
