Biography
Dr. Collins graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in 1966. He attended the University of Tennessee, Knoxville as a National Institutes of Health Pre-doctoral Fellow and received a Ph.D. from The University of Tennessee, in association with Oak Ridge National Laboratories and the University of Tennessee Memorial Research Center and Hospital in 1976. After graduation he accepted a National Institutes of Health Post-doctoral Fellowship from 1976 to 1980 at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies, La Jolla, California. He remained at The Salk Institute as a research professor until 1986. In 1986 he moved to Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Oncology Division, at Washington University School of Medicine in Saint Louis, Missouri. In 1992 he returned home to Martin Tennessee where he took a position in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Tennessee, Martin, Tennessee.
