This study was conducted to determine the antioxidant and antiproliferative activity and phytoconstituents of the hydroalcoholic extract of Echinophora chrysantha (Apiaceae) (EC). LC-MS/MS was used for the identification of non-volatile secondary metabolites. With the LC-MS/MS-based analysis of EC extract, thirty-three non-volatile metabolites were identified belonging to the flavonoid and organic acid categories. The extract showed excellent antiproliferative activity against HT-29 (IC50 =4.07±0.2μg/ml) and HeLa (1.41±0.1μg/ml) with low cytotoxicity toward normal cell lines with IC50 values ranging from 91.24±4.0 to 118.03±3.1μg/ml, inspected through the MTT method. The plant extract showed a high antioxidant activity of IC50=11.52±1.83μg/ml in DPPH and 63.58±4.05µg TE (Trolox equivalent) g-1 in reducing power assay. Identification of metabolites and evaluation of the bioactivity of EC also supports the traditional usage of this plant and its medicinal value.
